A 1925 Bugatti Type 13 “Brescia” was hidden in a garage in Oigny, France since 1966. It was recently auctioned at the “barnfind auction of the century” for $951,216. It was estimated to sell for somewhere between $165,000 and $275,000.
The auction at Artcurial Motorcars’ Automobiles sur les Champs took place in Paris and featured 60 rare, untouched cars. The collection in total fetched $28.5 million, with a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider being the top lot (sold for $18.45 million).
The Type 13 Bugatti Brescia is the original model, and the company’s first road car. 475 were built, but less than 10 are believed to remain in existence. This particular car was original and in relatively good condition for being 90 years old. It sold for more than double the highest price ever paid for the model.
