It’s tradition to bring home a souvenir from vacations, whether it be a magnet, a key chain, or…a 3.85-carat diamond?
A 14-year-old girl from Oklahoma was digging with her family at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Oklahoma when she saw something interesting. Upon closer observation, she realized it was a canary diamond about the size of a jellybean.
More than 75,000 diamonds have been found at the park since 1906, making its name well-deserved. One was the largest diamond ever found in the United States – a whopping 40.23-carat gem. Visitors at the park are allowed to keep what they find.
The girl says depending on how much the diamond is worth she will either make it into a ring, or use it to pay for college. Which begs the question, what would you do if you had found it?
