Sotheby’s announced Friday that it will put up John Lennon’s “You Might As Well Arsk” collection up for auction in June.
The largest private collection of the Beatles singer’s poems, doodles and comics date back to the peak of ‘Beatlemania’ in the early 1960s, and was published in two separate Tom Maschler books in the mid-1960s.
Although the works were not considered of high literary value by everyone at the time, they have an estimated auctioned price of $800,000. It will mark the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964.
