Feast your eyes on “The Premier Blue!” This rare 7.59 carat diamond is the world’s largest in the Fancy Vivid blue category. The stone is considered to be “internally flawless,” and is the largest round Fancy Vivid to be graded by the Gemological Institute of America.
No diamond of this size or kind has ever been auctioned worldwide, until now. The gem will be put up for auction at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong October 7th, and is projected to sell for $19 million. If the auction price reaches this estimation, it will achieve a new world record, currently held by Sotheby’s for the 6.01 carat that was auctioned at $1,686,505 per carat in 2011.
Prior to the auction, the diamond will be put on display in various locations in Asia, Geneva, London, New York and Doha.
